Most of the people know who pathologists are and what they do. Those who had contact with a pathologist as a patient or have worked with pathologists may even be aware of different specialties within this discipline.

Far fewer people know who veterinary pathologists are and what they do.

It is partially due to the fact, that there are a lot less veterinary pathologists than human pathologists (2,200 board-certified veterinary pathologists vs. 18,000 human pathologists) and partially to the less visible role veterinary pathologists are playing in healthcare and biotech industry.
